The Top Notch Bathrooms Team

Our First Bathroom

Being one our first bathrooms, when it came to meeting the clients we were both excited and nervous. Client relationships are such an integral part of Top Notch Bathrooms that we really wanted to ensure that was made clear.

We met the client on site ready to listen to her needs, see how her plans could be made possible and then go through how we were going to progress into making those ideas come to life.

After a sit down and a thorough chat we were able to distinguish what parts of the bathroom our client wanted changing, what parts she wanted to stay the same and what budget we were working with. It’s all so important for us to gather this information so we can provide the best service possible.

The client decided to replace the toilet, the vanity, the shower and revitalise the floors. So, our Builder started by ripping off the unwanted walls in preparation for the new pipes and the new shower. What an exciting way to start!

Once we were sure everything was ready and up-to-code we were ready to move on. we installed new Gib Board and started to work on the parts you really see. We brought in our Plasterer and our Painter to finish those new walls off right. Now we were starting to see the vison come to life!

Our client had spoken to us about the old wooden floors that they wanted to keep, but they weren’t sure how to make them work with their lifestyle.

We thought long and hard about how we could make it work in the bathroom both aesthetically and practically. No one wants to have to run after the kids’ every time they shower in case they’re ruining the floor! So, we brought in our floor sander to see how he could help and he knew straight away just how to fix the job. And boy did it look good!

The Plumbers returned to install the shower, the new toilet and the vanity.

We finished all of the touches off and ensured the client was happy with her new bathroom.

With a skip in our stride we left the client to enjoy!

Meet Sara, Our Sales Consultant

Hi everyone, I’m Sara. I was born in Auckland, New Zealand.

I was raised in the country with my siblings, on the Awhitu Peninsula, out by Hudson’s Beach.

Living in the country was amazing. We spent a lot of our childhood either at the beach or on the water. Even now, I love spending time at the beach, swimming and building sand castles with our little man Flynn, or out on our boat, fishing.

I didn’t start off in the Plumbing industry, my career I chose out of high school was Early Childhood Education. In the Winter of 2012 I graduated with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, teaching in one of our local Childcare centres in our hometown of Waiuku.

In April 2013, my husband Nigel Knott opened his very own Plumbing business called Top Notch Plumbing (this is where we got the name Top Notch Bathrooms). In October 2014,  I resigned from my job and began working for our business full-time. In January 2017 the best thing happened we welcomed our first child Flynn. Fast forward to September 2017, we merged with Graham & Sue Booker and became Swift Fix Plumbing.

My passion for design came about when we were redecorating our 1950’s home. I enjoyed all the elements of researching, planning and organising everything, from paint colours to tapware, right down to the floors. A lot of people do not enjoy all the hassle of arranging tradesmen and shopping for all the right colours and fixtures. After merging together, it became clear I wanted to follow my design passion and planning expertise. It was even better that our business partner Graham was keen on bathrooms as well. Four months in, we hired our Builder and at last Top Notch Bathrooms was born!

A job well done to me is seeing one very happy client that is ecstatic with our workmanship and is singing our praises!

Meet Graham, Our Plumber & Gasfitter

I was born and raised in the friendly fishing village of Weymouth in South Auckland.

Growing up,  my brothers and I spent most of our time exploring or fishing the shallow water for flounder and eels.

This life helped me to grow a real love for the sea which meant I spend many weekends out on the water fishing and diving.

Diving became my main focus as I learned more about the beautiful under water.

Whenever I travel I always try to get a dive in the new place I am at so that I can experience different eco-systems.

In the eighties, the time of the best ever music, I became restless at school and started looking for work opportunities. My parents told me I could not leave school unless I got a trade for which I am forever grateful. I chose Plumbing and Gas Fitting. After four hard years, I became a registered Plumber and Gas Fitter. Followed by another two more years of hard work to get my Certifying licenses for both Plumbing and Gas Fitting.

I started my business not long after and my new training to become a businessman began. After much fun and excitement, also a few hard lessons, Swiftfix Plumbing became the well-known and trusted business that it is today.

Longing to develop my creative side I started helping friends and family with a few renovations around their homes. Which in turn lead me to the bathroom design and renovation opportunity.

Teaming up with Nigel and Sara in 2017 has given us the opportunity to start to develop the bathroom side of the business. Top Notch bathrooms was started not long after we merged the businesses and we already have many satisfied customers.

There is nothing more enjoyable than making our customers happy.

To me a job well done is when the customer is so happy with the result of their bathroom that they want to show and tell everyone about their job and experience.

Meet Matt, Our Renovations Builder

Matt is our superstar renovations Builder.

We know taking the renovation plunge can be daunting, and we also know finding the right team of renovators who you can trust to create your dream bathroom can be hard.

So we thought, what better way for you to feel confident in our team and our work than to let you get to know our Builder!

So take a read and learn a bit more about Matt…

Hi all, I’m Matt. My role at Top Notch Bathrooms is to manage the bathroom operations and then turn those plans into a reality through the building process.

I have always enjoyed being hands-on and creating new things so building seemed like a great step to take. Also, I really enjoy seeing the happiness of customers when their project comes to life.

I love playing rugby and my favourite way to spend my weekends is to take my two boys and partner fishing.

If I were to travel I would adventure to Canada first, they have some of the biggest freshwater fish in the world which has always been something I want to experience. I would also love to hit some of their slopes on a snowboard.

Meet Rachel, Our Admin & Receptionist

Hi all, I’m Rachel.

I am the Receptionist for Top Notch Bathrooms and Office Administrator for Swift Fix Plumbing.

I answer the phones, book in jobs for our Plumbers and complete various paperwork and orders.

I love spending my spare time with my children and socialising with friends and family. I work fulltime and am a mum of three.

My hobbies include music and art. I have always had a passion for drawing and painting.

My new goal is to start growing my passion for music. This will hopefully include learning a new instrument that I can play in my spare time.

I also love trying new things. I am quite spontaneous and always up for a challenge. Summer is my favourite time of year, where I can go on bush walks and swim at the beach.
